Refresh 2019 AL KWP

A Summer Message from Executive Director Celina Watson

Please come by and enjoy our thriving gardens and patios with your loved ones,  we love visitors.

However, in our eyes you aren’t really visitors. You are family.

Is it really going to happen? This thing they call summer?

It seems this past year the seasons didn’t really feel like seasons. Winter was mild-ish, and the snow we habitually dread never happened as much as in past years, and then there were these strangely warm days thrown in the mix sporadically.

So now we head into summer, after a more ‘typical’ spring that featured pleasant temperatures, and lingering colorful flowers reminding us what season we are in.  And, along the veins of seasonal changes, I’d like to take a moment to tell you about some upcoming new and fresh changes you’ll see here at 100 Maple Ave.

Over the next few months, you’ll begin to see that we are undergoing what they call a ‘refresh’. We’ve hired a company to come in and help give us a face lift with new furniture, new staging and furniture, and to basically give the building a fresh new look. A building like ours takes a lot of wear and tear over time, and The Kensington is committed to keeping things looking their best.  We hope you’ll like the changes you see, feel free to let us know!

Also, we’ve hired a new team member in Human Resources. Jasmina DiRenzi has come to us with 10 years of

experience in HR and is entirely dedicated to our team members needs. In this age of ever-changing regulations and complex employee benefits, we are grateful to have Jasmina on our team.

Speaking of new, The Kensington is about to open our sixth property, in Redondo Beach California. This will be a complement to the other two California properties already in existence, in Redwood City (near San Francisco) and Sierra Madre (Southern California).  The plans are for Redondo Beach Kensington to open in mid-July.  Several of our White Plains team members are helping in the opening, as at this point, we are considered one of the ‘older’ (certainly more experienced!) properties in Kensington Senior Living.

Now that we are almost to the end of our 8th year, we look back on all the people who have been with us since the beginning (myself included).  For the last few years, we have been acknowledging our 5-year team members at the quarterly team member meetings and shining the spotlight on their loyalty. Keep an eye open for names and faces on the website- we are going to try and highlight the 5-year awards regularly.

Lastly, though we are 8 years young, it seems that when we opened, we didn’t anticipate the importance of digital marketing and strong reviews on the internet.  Currently we are making a strong effort to increase our positive reviews and asking people to contribute if they feel called. Reviews can be submitted on Facebook and/or Google.  If you’d like to help by being a Kensington Cheerleader and give us a great review, please do. In 2019, when a family is in search of a place for their loved one, the reviews are what makes the difference. Thank you in advance for helping us out.

Hugs – Celina
