An Autumn Message from Celina Watson

Greetings from all of us here at 100 Maple Avenue as we tiptoe into the best season of all- the season of cinnamon and pumpkin spice smells, warm vibrant colors, crisp air, and a gorgeous drum roll into autumn.  It’s a time when doors and windows can be opened without the humidity, and a light sweater seems to do the trick without bulking up too much. It’s the season that’s *just right*.

As you may have noticed, we’ve been undergoing a refresh throughout the interior of our building. Of course, things like this happen in phases. The current stage of refreshing is all about the main level garage.  It’s exciting to think of the final product and outcome! During construction, families, and guests should find parking offsite, which we know is an inconvenience.  It’s our hope that your patience, flexibility, and understanding will be on the forefront as we think outside the box, parking-wise.   The projected completion date for construction is October 6th.  Rest assured that we have a plan for getting residents in and out of the building for appointments and any medical needs that can’t be met here. For anyone who is unable to use the front staircase off of Maple Ave, we will be helping residents in and out of the building on Longview Avenue via our service elevator.

Kudos go out to The Kensington team members who hosted a fantastic Grandparent’s Day in September this year. Our garage was magically transformed into a play land for all ages as we enjoyed a strolling magician, entertaining live music (complete with the limbo!), face painting, outstanding candy apples, carnival games, and smiles all the way around.

Finally, on Sunday, September 29th, Team Kensington will be participating in the Westchester County Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Throughout the year we hold raffles, tag sales, and our ever-popular Blue Jean Thursdays (wear jeans and pay a dollar) to contribute to the cause.  If you would like to contribute, please go to act.alz.org and find our team for the September 29th walk.  Or, if you want to join us, just show up!  All walkers will get a Kensington t-shirt as a part of our team.

Warmly,

Celina Watson, Executive Director
