Grow your green thumb and watch your caregiver skillset blossom! The Kensington White Plains is thrilled to welcome Fred Ellman, Founder of OnGrowing Mindfulness, Therapeutic Horticulture Instructor and Kensington Alumni Family Member, for this hands-on workshop for family caregivers and loved ones with dementia.
Learn how therapeutic horticulture and meditation can create meaningful experiences of connection, purpose and joy between individuals living with dementia and their family caregivers. Fred will demonstrate how he uses plants to explore caregiving, kindness, mindfulness and play. The sensory opportunities within the horticultural world lend themselves to endless moments of interaction, which in turn can deepen bonds between loved ones. Every guest will receive a small plant to take home, nurture and enjoy.
Don’t miss this evening of creativity, connection and self-care! Light bites and beverages by our Executive Chef Norm Fintz will be served. We cannot wait to welcome you to our community, where Our Promise is to love and care for your family as we do our own. The warmth of this Promise awaits you, so please join us!
*Have a plant at home in need of extra TLC? We encourage you to bring it with you, so Fred can provide his expert guidance on nursing it back to perfect health!
