During this presentation we will cover good sleep hygiene, sleep disorders, devices used to assist those with sleep disorders and how to promote restful sleep.  Insight into the link between sleep and dementia will also be addressed.

 

Presenter Bios:

Dr. Steven A. Thau, MD, is a Board-Certified physician with over 26 years of experience in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.  He obtained his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  He completed residency at Hospital University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and completed his fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.  In addition to his Pulmonary Medicine Practice in Sleep Hollow, NY, Dr. Thau serves as the Division Chief of the Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Department, the Medical Director of the Sleep Center, Respiratory Therapy and the PFT lab, and is a member of the Quality and Standards Committee, Executive Committee and ICU Committee at Phelps Memorial Hospital.

Kerry Mills Rutland, MPA, MCHC, Dementia Coach.  Since 2002, Kerry has worked solely with people with cognitive impairment.   As founder and president of Engaging Alzheimer’s LLC, she has had many opportunities to share her expertise and vision in the United States as well as abroad.  Kerry co-authored several books including, I Care – A Handbook for Care Partners of People with Dementia.  Kerry is a regular guest on local radio stations and television.  She is a Master Certified Health Coach and a trained practitioner in the Bredesen Protocol. In this capacity, she works with clients and their families, focusing on interventions that can stop the progression of cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer’s disease.
