Summer Message

Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. – Henry James.

What is it about the thought of a summer afternoon that invokes a smile? Is it the satisfaction of a day that’s well underway, yet stops and gives permission to put your feet up and take a load off? That’s how I view summer- it is permission, permission to pull over, permission to unwind, permission to do nothing.

So, with the spirit of permission to take inventory, I look around at our bustling community and smile. We’ve gone through the first phase of a major ‘refresh’ that brightened and freshened The Kensington up in countless ways. It has created new energy throughout our building. We’ve continued to grow and be innovative as we’ve built up a dynamic and energetic relationship with our new therapy company, Health SOS.

The treatment area has an entirely different feel to it as you walk through. Our team members are in new uniforms with a different color scheme (pink shirts for Lead Care Managers, for example) and it looks great. Our nurses are beginning to use a computerized tracking system for medication administration, which is so exciting. The grounds are outstanding this year; a garden walk feels like a getaway.

I’m so proud of the welcoming community that we’ve created here at The Kensington. Never stale, always growing, and constantly committed to loving and caring. It’s a great view to see on a summer afternoon. Please stop by for some summer memories with us.

Sincerely,

Kensington White Plains Executive Director Celina Watson headshot.
