Join us at The Kensington’s Parkinson’s Café for two specialized programs designed to enhance the well-being of those living with Parkinson’s Disease. All sessions are free and offer a welcoming, supportive environment to improve mobility, strength, and quality of life.

Parkinson’s Communication Club: 1st Friday of Each Month

Join us for our Communication class, led by Certified Speech Language Pathologists from Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. Specializing in LSVT LOUD® techniques, these experts will guide participants through exercises designed to improve vocal strength, volume, and articulation. This interactive and enjoyable class is perfect for individuals with Parkinson’s looking to enhance their speech in a supportive environment.

Movement for Parkinson’s Class: 3rd Friday of Each Month

Led by Mindy Erber, M.S., OTR, CAPS, CDP, LSVT-BI, this class focuses on the LSVT-BIG principles and other beneficial exercises tailored to people with Parkinson’s. Learn how to incorporate large, exaggerated movements to combat the mobility challenges of PD. The class also offers tips and tricks for managing gait freezing, handwriting, and more. Participants will leave with practical ideas to apply these techniques in daily life.

Mindy

Mindy is an Occupational Therapist, Certified Aging in Place Specialist and Certified Dementia Practitioner. She has 30 years of clinical experience and has dedicated the last 10 exclusively to geriatric wellness, rehabilitation, and home safety modifications. Mindy received an MS degree in occupational therapy from Columbia University. She later received her CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist), CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner) as well as an LSVT-BIG Certification. Mindy has a special interest in aging in place, geriatric wellness, Parkinson’s disease and dementia care.
